I’m Sarah, the artist behind GHA. Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are painting alongside my mom, and I never really stopped. There was a time when I thought art wasn’t in the cards for me. I explored other career paths, but it always lingered in the background—quietly pulling me back. Eventually, it caught up to me in a way I couldn’t ignore.
I was filming a wedding when I saw a live wedding painter for the first time. I remember being completely caught off guard by it. I didn’t even realize something like that existed, but I was instantly drawn in. Not long after, I painted four couples whose weddings I had filmed and surprised them with their paintings. From there, everything just took off. It’s been three years, and I somehow love capturing weddings even more now than I did when I started.
I had a bride tell me recently that she had always dreamed of having a live painter at her wedding, and I told her, “I love that I get to be part of your dream, while you’re also letting me live mine.” It really is something special. I’ve always loved weddings, even before I was in the industry. There’s something about them that just feels different—like one of the few moments in life where everything slows down and actually feels meaningful. Getting to translate that onto a canvas feels both challenging and completely natural at the same time.
A big reason couples are drawn to my work is the level of realism. It’s important to me that you can recognize yourself in your painting—that it feels like you. Because at the end of the day, art is storytelling. And this is your story. From the emotion to the atmosphere to the small in-between details, I’m always thinking about how to capture not just how your wedding looked, but how it felt.
Sarah Bate | Live Wedding Painter
Choosing a live wedding painter is about so much more than the final piece. It’s about the energy they bring into your day. If you’ve spent any time on my page, you’ve probably seen how much I genuinely love connecting with people. I don’t shy away from those moments—whether it’s your uncle telling me about his entire art career or a quick comment from a guest passing by. I’m here for all of it. One of my favorite parts of the night is asking guests about you—your story, your relationship, the things they admire most about you as a couple. Those little conversations stay with me, and they become part of the way I approach your painting as it comes to life throughout the evening.
Live wedding painting is more than just a service to me—it’s a way of preserving something that would otherwise pass by too quickly. As I paint, I’m not just focusing on the scene in front of me, but everything surrounding it—the energy, the emotion, the subtle details that make your day yours. What you’re left with is more than a visual memory. It’s a piece that holds the feeling of your wedding day, something you’ll return to again and again.
